About the

The Sutton Brothers are a four-member band featuring Tim Nunn together with the three Sutton Brothers, Tom, Al, and Charlie.  The current lineup has played together since 1999.

The band’s longevity is a tribute to the members’ love of music and friendship.  The cardinal rule is simple: everyone has a veto on whatever is played.  The band just plays what it loves to play.

Brothers Tom and Al Sutton began playing together in 1971. In 1979 all three brothers began to play together. With other players, the band became known as “The Almost Blues Band” and later as “Almost Blue”. Tim Nunn joined the band in 1986 and is still teased for being ‘the new guy’. The band’s name was changed to the Sutton Brothers in 1999 and began their web site, www.suttonbrothers.net .

Mixing original material with classic rock, R & B and traditional blues, the band has developed and maintained a strong following, sharing bills with well-known artists such as Jim Byrnes, Long John Baldrey, David Paich (Toto), and Trooper.

Primary influences include The Beatles, Motown, Neil Young, and Stephen Stills. The band is known for capturing the feel and grooves versions of classic artists in their cover versions, often including four-part harmonies.

This is a truly local band, with all three brothers graduating from White Rock area high schools.  Tim Nunn completed his schooling in San Diego before moving to this area.  Their previous recording studio and practice space, known affectionately as “The Barn” has hosted countless jam sessions that have included visits by many well-known artists. Young artists were encouraged to play, and several groups were ‘born’ at The Barn.

Today they maintain a recording studio in Ocean Park known as “The Mansion”. The band works together three nights a week, with very few exceptions.

The band created several CDs, recorded at The Barn, and produced entirely by the band. Their music covers a broad spectrum their fans have come to expect, from rhythm and blues to straight ahead classic rock and roll and traditional blues.

While at “The Barn” studio, they began to record and produce videos with multiple cameras and multi-track digital audio. They have produced many live videos, mainly featuring the Sutton Brothers but also including many other bands, their previous band “Almost Blue”, and jam sessions where musicians are put together on the spot. These can be seen on YouTube.

Recently the band released an original video created at “The Mansion”. It was ‘filmed’ on the streets of Vancouver, for a new original song “Flying To Heaven”.

Their newest release is a tribute to The Beatles, “Love Is All You Need“.
