CDs

Sixties Style, like our other CDs was recorded in our studio known as The Barn. All of the songs are original compositions except track 4, ‘I Don’t Need No Doctor’ which was written by Ashford, Simpson, and Armstead and popularized by Ray Charles and Humble Pie among others. As usual Brother Tim Nunn is the main writer, with Brother Al Sutton contributing track 3 ‘Don’t Turn Your Back On Love’. All aspects of the production of this album were performed by members of the band with the addition of part time Brother Mel Little on tracks 3 & 4 playing his Hammond organ. The CD was recorded from 2006 to 2009 and released in 2010. Click on the title or cover photo to listen to the songs.

Red Sky was recorded at The Barn between 2001 and 2005, and released in 2005. In 2003 we acquired digital recording equipment which replaced our old 80-8 Tascam 8 channel tape recorder. We recorded new versions of a few songs, and Tim Nunn wrote many of the new songs. Click on the album title above or the CD cover photo to listen to the songs. Ken Lerner played sax on the song “Can’t Look Behind You Anymore”. All other tracks, photos, and production by the Sutton Brothers. Mel Little played most of the keyboards, but “retired” during the recording of Red Sky. Click on the photo or title above to listen to the songs.

The Spell was recorded in the late 90’s and released in 2000. All songs are original compositions, and all aspects of the CD production was done by the Sutton Brothers. The Spell marked a significant change from our previous band, Almost Blue. During this time Alex Stan left the band, and Tom Sutton switched from guitar to bass. Most of the tracks on the CD feature Tom on both guitar and bass. Alex played bass on the song “Heart Gone Mad”. The release of The Spell was the beginning of the Sutton Brothers, but Almost Blue continues to perform at most of the jam sessions, when all members are present. One Night At The Barn was recorded on our old Tascam 80-8 1/2″ tape machine on March 2, 1996. Instead of a jam session that night we held a live recording session with an audience. The recordings were set aside while we worked on The Spell  CD did not complete them. Years later we transferred our tapes to digital format and when we heard these recordings again we decided we had to get them finished.

Long time followers of the band will find that the CD is a time capsule, recorded long before brother Al was assaulted. The CD is arranged like an Almost Blue set ‘back in the day’ of the mid 90s. Dan Ross was the recording engineer, produced by Al and Tom Sutton. The CD was released in 2007. Click on the CD name or Album cover above to listen to the recordings.
